Help End Texas’ Crisis for Medically Fragile Kids
Children with complex medical conditions need constant care, but private insurance rarely meets their needs. Thanks to a reform championed by President Ronald Reagan, Medicaid can help—but in Texas, families wait 10 to 17 years for the waivers their children need to receive necessary care.
Last year, 8,374 children were stuck on the Texas waiting list—while the rest of the country had only 625. Most states have no waiting list at all.
Protect TX Fragile Kids began as a group of moms advocating for their children. Over four legislative sessions, we’ve learned a lot and built strong relationships—but there’s still so much more to do. To make real progress, we need the right expertise on our team.
We’re now more than a third of the way to our $15,000 goal—and thanks to early contributions, we’ve already hired a budget expert to identify state funding sources. Thanks to her work, Senate Bill 2062 (House Bill 5220) and an accompanying budget rider would cut the Medicaid waiver waitlist in half.
Please donate today to help reduce the wait for Texas families.
